LeHave River, Nova Scotia to Horta, Faial, Azores
Horta to  Villamoura, Portugal.

We left June 21, 2005 from LeHave River near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia area for the port of Horta on the Island of Faiall in the Azores.   We arrived in Horta, in the Azores, 13 days later.  Our passage began with strong southwesterlies, shifted to moderate northwesterlies, and then backed to light westerlies where we ran the spinnaker for several days.  We finished the trip in the Azores high (1032 mb) motoring directly into light headwinds.  Except for a raft of mostly self-inflicted mechanical issues, we had a very nice passage.

On July 8, we left Horta, bound for Sao Miguel, where we called in for a day at Ponta Delgado en route to Villamoura in Portugal where Debbie and Mary Harris met the boat.  We had an excellent passage, arriving 6 days after departure.  Those famous Portugese trades were great, but only for the last 18 hours of the passage.  The overnight traffic coming on to the Portugese coast was exciting - we had to run 2-person watches!
